We here at Sydney Paige are always excited and encouraged when we come across another company that shares our passions - education, children, school supplies, and GIVING BACK! For today's Follow Friday post, we'd like to introduce you to Yoobi - a company who encompasses all those things!

Yoobi is a new colorful and vibrant school supply brand that makes learning fun while also giving back. Yoobi means "one for you, one for me" - for every Yoobi item you buy, a Yoobi item is donated to a classroom in need right here in the United States. It's that simple. And that AWESOME! Read more of Yoobi's mission and story on their blog.

You can find Yoobi supplies ONLINE or at most Target stores. They have everything from notebooks and journals, to desk accessories, to pens, pencils and crayons! We recently purchased the mini highlighter pack and my girls are obsessed. The packaging is hard to resist and the colorful, creative possibilities are endless. Free and Brave!!!

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

We are blessed to live where we can champion anything and everything we love! (Stop and think about it...isn't that the BEST??) We are more blessed to be in position to make a difference. May we never take the beauty that is this life for granted. And may we always honor the fundamental GIVING beliefs this country was built upon.
Happy Fourth of July!!

Follow Friday - Rainbow Pack

 {Find Rainbow Pack on FACEBOOK and TWITTER}

This Friday we are excited to highlight one of our Giving Crew partners - Rainbow Pack - an amazing non-profit organization dedicated to providing elementary school students with the homework supplies they need to be successful learners regardless of their economic circumstance. Why "homework" supplies rather than school supplies? Because even the schools in the less privileged areas often manage to have supplies in the classroom for the students to do their work. It's when they get home that the kids really struggle. Rainbow Pack is dedicated to changing this and that is what we at SydneyPaige LOVE best about them!

Rainbow Pack is currently in the running to win $10K to support their efforts from KIND Snacks. Rainbow Pack plans to use ALL of the money to buy backpacks and homework supplies to hand out at their 2014 Back To School Event in Pacoima, CA. The goal this year is to help 4,000 elementary school kids from Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade start out the year ready and excited to learn. This money would buy more than 1000 of the Rainbow Packs that they need for the event! With that kind of support we know that they could raise the rest of the money to meet their goal. Let's all help them achieve this amazing goal, by VOTING HERE!!

Follow Friday - Miscoots

I am LOVING this company that I just discovered!!  Based out of Austin, TX, Mitscoots sells “Socks With A Mission”.  Like SYDNEY PAIGE, for every product sold, they donate a matching product to a person in need in the United States.  With Mitscoots, it’s socks!  They also go a step further in employing those in need to help package their socks, paying them well above minimum wage.  I just LOVE THIS!!  They are not only giving homeless and needy men, women & children a pair of much needed clean socks, but also employment opportunity to get off the streets and into their own homes.  See their website (http://www.mitscoots.com) for more details and testimonies . . . and buy your socks today (hint, if you sign up for their newsletter, you get 20% off your first purchase + free shipping)!!  From argyle to casual to running, biking or skateboarding, they have the quality socks you need!  Who knew your little sock purchase could do such GREAT THINGS!?!? -Courtney

Follow Friday - Better With Books

For today's Follow Friday post we are honored to highlight Better With Books - a non-profit organization focusing on the importance of literacy for under-served children.

They accomplish this by donating new books to children, families, and organizations in need.  The goal is to share the joy of reading, the power of literacy, and to ultimately encourage all to embrace the long-lasting and immense impact, of putting books in the hands of children in need. I love to read and nothing makes me happier than seeing my children ejoying a good book - whether it is being read to them, or they are reading one themselves! Literacy for every child begins with getting books into every child's hands. We love and support how Better With Books is working to make that happen. Check them out today! www.betterwithbooks.org

Follow Friday - Pipeline Fellowship

From our founder & CEO, Courtney Brockmeyer:

I am so excited to be in Boston today to pitch to a talented group of angel investors from Pipeline Fellowship! This company is so awesome and I am thrilled to highlight it for this week's Sydney Paige Follow Friday.

The Pipeline Fellowship is changing the face of angel investing by conducting a 6 month bootcamp for women to invest in companies and support women social entrepreneurs. Since launching its first angel investing bootcamp in April 2011, they have trained over 70 women, who have committed more than $350k in investment, and have expanded from NYC to include Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, LA, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.. At the end of their 6 month training, the class collectively chooses a handful of companies looking for investors (like SYDNEY PAIGE!) to pitch for funding and after the 3 hour pitch session, selects the company that they will fund. Each angel receives an agreed upon percentage of the chosen company and one angel is chosen to sit on the board of the new company, adding their expertise and passion to help grow the business.

I am LOVING this women investing in women movement and am ECSTATIC about Pipeline Fellowship’s focus on companies dedicated to create positive social change. It is a win-win situation for all and I am honored to have been chosen to pitch! Wish me luck and visit www.pipelinefellowship.com to learn more!

Follow Friday - Bookopolis

Hooray!  My kid loves to READ!!!

Paige has finally fallen in love with the written word and went from fighting her required 20 minutes of reading homework to begging for her next book!!! The Brockmeyer household is elated! As a tribute to this fantastic news, this week's Sydney Paige Follow Friday is the awesome new company, Bookopolis.

This is a fantastic website for kids, parents and teachers alike.  If you are familiar with Goodreads - it's very similar but oriented towards elementary school children with the mission of nurturing a love of reading that will stay with them as they grow.

Kids create their own login (fun choice of avatar included) and enter into a fun and safe online community where they can explore new books, create a bookshelf (for books they’ve read or want to read), show off their knowledge by answering book report questions, share with friends, can even write their own reviews, and my favorite . . . earn points and badges for all of their activity in Bookopolis as positive reinforcement for their excellent work!

Bookopolis accounts are easily accessible from mobile devices, so when you are at a bookstore or library you will always have your children's book ideas at your fingertips! And the more books your children read and rate, the better Bookopolis is able to personalize recommendations for future reads. Bookopolis is also a great begining tool to teach children how to use the interent safely fostering wise "digital citizenship skills."

Both Paige and Sydney have joined the Bookopolis network and are having such fun starting their adventures with this awesome website.  Have fun signing up your child today at www.bookopolis.com!
